One of the most accomplished of Virginia sculptors, bronze artist Rubin Peacock rarely invites the public into his gallery, let alone two of his studios. Featured in museum, private and corporate collections across the country, his sculptures embody the timeless sculptural traditions of bronze and are at the same time, very contemporary. His sculpture “Unfinished Totem” was the first piece by a Virginia-based artist to be installed in the VMFA sculpture garden.
Rubin has personally invited us to see two of his spaces. Our visit begins at his studio where he hand-finishes his unique bronze works. And where, in addition to his latest piece in progress, there are marvelous Aztec and Mayan idols and Native American pottery from his collections on display.
We’ll then walk a few blocks to Rubin’s gallery where he’s exhibited his bronzes, paintings and drawings for the past 35 years. There we'll see the gallery and wax studio and enjoy a glass of wine.
Maison Vie Founder Susan W. Morgan wrote a piece on his studio spaces which you can find here to learn more.
Making a statement through art has been a lifelong pursuit for Rubin Peacock. A native of North Carolina, Peacock received his B.S. and B.F.A. degrees from the University of Georgia, going on to the Peace Corps for two years and then continuing his education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received his Masters of Fine Art degree. Today, Rubin is truly a dedicated working artist, having made a commitment to producing sculptures for over fifty years.

R.J. Landin
R.J. Landin is a storyteller, curator, and color enthusiast who believes life is full of occasions worth celebrating — and that great design is the art of bringing those occasions to life. A native Virginian with deep roots in the Richmond community, she blends Southern charm, whimsy, and a signature vibrancy into events and spaces that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. Former President of IFDA and an active voice across Richmond's cultural and civic landscape, she is equally at home leading a community organization, hosting a dinner party, or finding inspiration in her garden.
